At the end of the THX Home Theatre Level II course I attended in 2010, renowned THX instructor John Dahl said to the class (and I'm paraphrasing slightly) "if you'd like to explore the topics we've covered in greater detail with more comprehensive practical exercises, I'd strongly suggest Gerry Lemay's HAA Level II course". I took his advice - doing so was made much easier by Gerry kindly taking the time to head Down Under in 2011 - and I'd strongly suggest that anyone who's serious about home theatre, either as a profession or DIY, should do the same. There's a lot of "white noise" out there on internet forums and websites about acoustics and home theatre (much of it clearly wrong), and the HAA courses, particularly the two-day Level II practical course, will clear it up for you. As an example, we had a square room - and I mean *seriously* square - in a disused office building (suspended ceiling, commercial grade carpet over timber floor, thin drywall etc) in which to set up our system, and by the end of two days, it was the best demonstration room I've ever heard - period. No trickery, just plenty of science and guidance by a consummate professional. Michael McIntosh
