- This test is performed much like the near field test for the other speakers but at a closer distance.
- Low frequencies in a small room are prone to more response distortion and that can greatly change the organic response of the subwoofer.
- Placing the microphone within an inch (25 mm) or less maximizes the intensity of the direct sound and minimizes room distortion.
- The resulting plot will be a truer version of the subs actual response.
- This plot is good to reference when doing subwoofer equalization later in the calibration. Matching the organic response of the sub when EQing means we've largely eliminated room effects.
